Challenges
I don’t even know what to think about this chapter. Seeing these kids with these problems just completely breaks my heart. In an ideal world children would never see any kind of darkness, but unfortunately, our world is less than ideal. This also reminds me that as a teacher I have to remember that some of my students are going through things that I cannot even imagine and that the face that they put out into the world is not what they are truly feeling. This chapter reminds me that my students need to see me as a human being as well. I was really surprised with all the different issues some of these teachers went through while growing up. When I was in school, teachers never seemed to have issues they seems liked their lives were always perfect. This chapter reminds me that everyone has dark parts of their pasts, some are a lot worse than others.
